Good Jobs

Our Good Jobs work, partly supported by the Aspen Institute and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is designed to create businesses that are good stewards – of their employees, their communities, and the planet.
We’ve partnered with Good For Michigan to created specialized cohorts, typically grouped geographically. Cohort members gather regularly to collaborate on creating a local impact. They also utilize tools such as the SDG Action Manager and B Impact Assessment to set and achieve positive and measurable place-based impacts.

The U.P. Good Jobs Cohort is underway

The U.P. Good Jobs Cohort is a multiweek learning opportunity that starts with collecting baseline data on the impact your business is making now. Then we’re focusing the lens around creating high-quality jobs, and thinking about improving work culture, employee retention and hiring; and examples of how this is working across the country.

The cohort meets virtually three times, with multiple one-on-one sessions with coaches and interns.

West Michigan Cohort

A dozen businesses went through our first Good Jobs Cohort for West Michigan, finishing in July 2023. Many of them are eligible for incentives after completing certain steps; the funds are designated for work needed to complete their assessments. We’re working on other cohorts, possibly grouped by industry, such as hospitality or child care. We’d love to hear what you’d like to learn!
